This is a wonderful fairly new introduction of Pernstemon. It has beautiful dark purple flowers from early summer into Autumn. To prolong the flowering season keep deadheading the plant and it will reward you with fabulous blooms all summer long. Do not be tempted to be too tidy with your Penstemon they should not be cut back until Spring when the new growth has begun and the fear of frost is over. They are frost hardy if you dont cut them back in autumn. This one grows to about 80cm.
Looking amazing in a trough at the moment is the amazing Tulipa 'Lady Jane'. This wonderful tulip opens up fully during the day to reveal a white inside and then closes up at night night when it appears to be a deep pink. Has been awarded an AGM by the RHS and well deserved it is too. This is a species tulip so has come back year on year for us for the past five years. Quite short at 25cm
Still flowering in our garden at the moment is this fabulous Salvia. It has the most amazing blood red colour flowers and starts off flowering in May/June. Likes full sun and well drained soil. Reaches a hieight of about 70cm. We also grow it in a pot where it does extremely well.
This is just the most amazing Dahlia we have seen to date. It has almost white flowers with pink tinged edges and a very unusual star shape to the flower. Just stunning. 80cm
Even after temperatures of -2 degrees this amazing Geum is still flowering in our garden. It really is the most amazing Geum we have come across. It usually starts flowering in May and just goes on producing flowers throughout the year. It is an excellent plant for mid to back of border where it will grow to about 90cm given reasonable soil and a good sunny spot. Being a sterile hybrid it will not seed around the place and we just keep deadheading it from time to time. A real show stopper.
A huge thank you to Fionnuala Fallon for the lovely piece about Dahlia in the Irish Times dated 28th January, and especially for mentioning us as being suppliers of the fabulous Dahlia Cafe au Lait. It is indeed a stunning Dahlia which has very large creamy flowers.
